My mother Deirdre (O'Sullivan) is a Msongari old girl - 1938 I think. I was especially interested to read about Karin Gaetje's re-union in UK in April of this year - the "girls" in the photo were all "seniors" when I first went to Eldoret! "Coo" hasn't changed a lot. Karin reminded me of her mother. Karin, her sister Hedda, Ann ? (her father was a bank manager in Mwanza and her cousins were Mary Borwick from Thomspon's Falls and Felicity Holmes who also attended Loreto) and I were the "Mwanza" girls who used to travel around Lake Victoria on the lake steamers of the day then catch buses up to Eldoret. What a life that all was - and how the world has changed for I don't think girls could do that now! Good to hear there is finally a Loreto in Mwanza - and Sr Pauline there! and great to see the photo of her! I wish her well.
It was lovely to read about the Melbourne re-union. I hope to catch up next year Ladies! I live on the southern end of Queensland's Gold Coast, have been happily married since 1969 and came to Australia in 1970. My daughter Judith is a LOG from Coorparoo in Brisbane. My husband Sandy and I are planning a trip around Australia next year followed by a visit to UK - so hopefully I will be able to catch up with a few folks. I keep in Christmas card contact with Sally Crome (Owen) who lives in St. Andrews, Scotland and have just got in touch - courtesy of fungasafari - with classmate Alison (Pickford) - exciting since we last saw each other in mid-1968. Does anyone know where Jane and Sue Ganz (Msongari) got to ? they were Mwanza gals too - last seen in London in 1968 - literally bumped into them at Westminster Cathedral!

Attended Loreto Mombasa from 1947 - 1950 before moving to
Kisumu, Kericho & Nyeri, returning to the UK in 1953. Obviously memories about Loreto quite sketchy, but vividly remember falling from the top of the fire escape to the bottom - not a pretty sight! even Eve remembered this when we met - and of course remember some of the nuns, Mother Borgia and Mother Louie (taught French) and a Mrs Rodgers
taught me music, I believe. I seem to recall she was a convert and that my
mother stood for her. My mother would have been able to tell me this but
sadly she passed away a few years ago, aged 90. I made my First Communion at Loreto - my sister in Australia has that photograph taken with another communicant (she is sending me a copy so that I may identify my companion).
Have lived in Colchester, Essex since 1955, married, no children, work as aPA in an advertising agency
Have two brothers, Eugene, who went to St Mary's in Nairobi now retired and lives in Mildenhall; Liam is a priest with the Mill Hill Fathers, is
currently serving in Ancoats, Manchester. He travels around the country
quite lot on mission work,so if any LOGs come across him at their masses, please sayHello - He went to school at the Prince of Wales in Nakuru - spent many years in Kisii after he was ordained, and then 15years in Sudan, latterly through the famine and war.
