Born: Tanga, Tanzania (Tanganyika) in 1942.  Lived in Tanga then on farms in the West Kilimanjaro district, then Moshi - boarded at Msongari from the age of six years - starting about 1948. Went to Kongwa School in Tanganyika for three terms (one and a half years, they only had two terms a year, very isolated!!) aged about eleven, then back to the haven of Msongari.

Have lived in Cape Town, South Africa since 1964. Married a Cape Tonian, Rob, had three daughters - the eldest of whom lives in Fish Hoek, Cape, divorced with two sons. Middle daughter married an Australian and lives in Melbourne with sons James and Max. Youngest married a Cape Tonian, living in Dubai with their two children, a boy and girl. Six grand children!

I worked as a school secretary at a private Prep school here in Cape Town for many years; however Rob and I are now retired and enjoy an excellent and full life, climbing on the mountains in this beautiful Cape of ours, birding, lawn bowling .....visiting children in Australia and Dubai.  

My sister, Gilly - ex Msongari - and her husband Denys Roberts live in Tanzania - on the coast near Tanga; they have a camping/holiday resort there. My brother, ex (Prince of Wales), is also based on the Tanga coast and  my parents, both in their late eighties, have joined the family there and are happily settled into their old East African life ....whilst my youngest sister and her husband have a game farm in Limpopo two hours out of Johannesburg.  rsatchl@iafrica.com (23/03/06)

Andrew was a former student at Loreto Convent Eldoret! He..."was there in 1953 at the tender age of 4 ¾. Do not recall much of those days, except the red beret, being bossed around by girls and Mothers Breed and Kannis. Another "old girl" from Loreto Eldoret is Tony Swain, whom I see from time to time in Perth. He married Angela (nee Hickman) and their daughter Elspeth became a distinguished Australian hockey player."

I did 'O' levels in 1959 and a secretarial course at Southons at Njoro. Married George Bradford (ex DOY) in 1964 and moved to South Africa in 1968. George has a large Apiary business in the Western Cape specialising in the pollination of deciduous fruit. We have a daughter, two sons and almost four grandchildren.
I worked for 17 years in the export division of a now internationally known product 'Appletiser' and in 1991 left to start my own business exporting, mainly wines, to Kenya and other African/Indian Ocean Island countries, ably assisted by our youngest - Clive.
