I lived in Mombasa and attended the Loreto Convent there. In 1967 I went to Kampala (Uganda), left in 1972 during the Idi Amin troubles and came to Rome with my mother where I have been living ever since and thoroughly enjoy it. My brother Ermanno, who attended the Prince of Wales is still in Nairobi.
Mombasa Loretos where are you all, I've been to the London reunion, the Umbria reunion and hope to attend the Cape Town reunion as my brother and his family now live there, but not many Mombasans are around, please get in touch.
A very BIG THANKS goes to Luisa Sossi for being the first to think about having an Italian reunion, she put in a lot of work but the effort was worth it. Willy and Ala are also to be thanked for their late night (!) computer homework, great work there. Ala your MATATU bus idea was also great. As I said very few Mombasa Loretos were at the reunion, hopefully next time we'll have rounded up a few more; I met up with friends from Kampala days and it's always fun to bring back the memories of the good East African days. My sister and I attended Msongari in 1958 and 1959. Apparently we were the first Americans to do so and the nuns at first were somewhat uncertain whether we would be up to the rigors of convent British education! We survived quite well, however, but left before I took my O levels because my father's contract with USAID had concluded.

I attended Loreto Convent (along with my sister, Anne) in 1958 and 1959 while we lived in Nairobi. Seeing the aerial view of the school reminds me that the pool was built while we were there. I believe my mother has a picture of the roundabout in front of Loreto on Corpis Christi day that I will try to get from her to scan and send to you. We returned to the United States in 1959, but I still have very fond memories of Loreto Convent. I have recently been trying to locate Diana Cornish and Vicki Chance, two of my Loreto classmates. I have now started a new business, as from Jan 2001 I run, with a partner, an events coordinating business called The Excellent Events Company. This keeps us very busy and, so far, seems to be a good idea. I still live in the same place, Albany, on the south coast of Western Australia about 400 kms from Perth. It's a beautiful place with lots to see and do. If anyone is coming anywhere close please give us a call and come and stay. I went to Mombasa Primary 1963-65 and then Msongari for high school, 1966 -1969. The train trip from Mombasa to Nairobi used to great fun each term, tears at the station leaving home, but before the train crossed the Causeway - the music was on we'd all be checking our "which boys school" was on board. My family left Kenya at the end of 1969 and after a short time in New Zealand I came to Perth Australia and been here since. Perth is a beautiful city, the weather absolutely perfect. I have two sons, Graeme 22 and David 25, both doing very well. I think we were very lucky going to Loreto Convent as wonderful, warm and loyal friendships were developed over the years and still continue. Even though nearly all of us have left Kenya and are spread around the world we keep in contact and have great memories to share. My mother Anne Ronald (Rogers) also went to Msongari. We all schooled at Valley Road then at the age of seven we went to Loreto Msongari and Roberto went to Saint Mary's. Our father owned several farms in Kenya, one of them is now the New Muthaiga Estate, and the other one was Kijabi in the Rift Valley, the entrance to that farm is opposite the Italian church.
Since 1979 we have been living in Rome and own a Real Estate Agency in Via Veneto (close to the U.S.A. Embassy in Rome). Roberto lives in England, married with a child, and works for a security company.
